Some of the very best American acoustic 12-string guitars ever made came from the Guild Company in the 1970s. I am always on the lookout for these, especially the models with mahogany back and sides for the purest of 12-string tones, but it’s rare that I come across one that meets my high standards these days, so many of these older ones having been subjected to neglect, abuse, or what one long-gone wag in our business used to call “reptile dentistry”. This particular one though, an F-212 model, by far there hippest, is in gorgeous condition, hardly ever played and near-perfect. It originally came to us about fifteen years ago in exactly this state and got bought by someone who eventually discovered that he might have over-reached somewhat, and so he soon put it away and has just brought it back to us, essentially untouched since he bought it. The F-212, BTW, was Guild’s original entry into the 12-string guitar world and while they later made some smaller ones, and some bigger ones, and some fancier ones, this model has always been the true it. This is a rare opportunity to own a piece of history, one of the originals, now forty-seven years old and in prime condition and at less than the price of any new American-made 12-string of equal quality. We’ve just gone over it thoroughly here in our own workshop, made sure that everything is nice and solid and that the action is absolutely prime. Comes with its original Guild hard shell case and its original Guild Owner’s Manual/Warranty Booklet serial numbered to the guitar. $2795 w/ohsc
