Description

1988 (SN. GF600079) Guild GF60 Blonde, solid curly maple back and sides with a maple three piece neck and solid Englemann spruce top.  Rare model with total production of only 82 made.  The top shows super tight and straight grain throughout the entire 16" width of the body and is beautifully quartered, showing medullary rays or "silking" in the grain throughout. Very high quality top. The neck, back and sides show equally nice quality maple with good curl making for a very handsome look all around. The guitar has a bound ebony fretboard that has large slotted diamond position markers inlaid in pearl and an ebony bridge.   The headstock is also bound, the tuners are gold Grover Rotomatics. The finish is very clean, shows very little play wear or signs of handling beyond some minor finish loss on the headstock around a few of the tuner washers. Frets are in excellent condition. The following repairs were
just completed at Kovacik Guitars...the center seam was glued and cleated, and a small hairline crack at the treble edge of the fret board was repaired. Both are tight, level and stable, cosmetically excellent and difficult to detect. In addition, the bridge was replaced with a custom made reproduction of the original (same size and shape) as the original was cracked through the pin holes. The original factory pickup was removed at the time that the bridge was replaced as it was not working. A conversion end pin has been installed. The neck angle is perfect and the guitar plays with action set at 7/64" and 6/64" at the 12th fret (measured at the low and high E strings) with a solid 1/8" of
saddle showing. Strung currently with medium gauge (.013-.056). Plenty
of saddle left to adjust. The intonation is excellent all over the neck. The guitar has a big, boomy voice, more like a rosewood guitar than most maple guitars I've played, with solid bass to accompany the strong mids and trebles. Comes with the original hardshell case. $1800
