1976 Guild S-100 Deluxe Natural

Summary: This Guild S-100 Deluxe is in impeccable shape for its age and has never suffered any breaks or abuse. It is all original and has just been inspected, setup and restrung by our in house luthier. This vintage Guild Humbuckers' sound dynamite with a faster attack and rounder chime than your typical humbucker. They can get twangy with a clean amp, and handle high gain very well with great note separation and clarity, while bringing plenty of grind! We have all fallen in love with this beauty here at Empire Guitars, the vibrato unit is silky smooth, the roller bridge facilitates excellent tuning stability and the out-of-phase switch offers that unmistakable “quack” that slices through a mix like nothing else. This Guild has never been altered, the solder joints are totally original, it has a newer brown hardshell case with pink plush interior and even comes with a soft leather Guild strap!

Body: Mahogany double cutaway with natural brown finish and clear pickguard.

Neck: Mahogany C shaped neck with some beautiful figure in the grain, bound rosewood fingerboard with pearloid block inlays, 1 5/8” nut width and 24 3/4” scale length.

Pickups/Hardware: It has the original Guild humbuckers, metal 3 way toggle switch, out-of-phase switch, 2 volume, 2 tone, Guild knobs, roller bridge, closed back Guild tuning machines and Guild branded vibrato unit.

Cosmetics: This Guild is in excellent shape with no breaks or visible repairs to mention. There are a few light scratches around the controls and pickguard you would expect to see on an instrument from the 70s, some shallow buckle rash in the finish on the back, and some dings and dents on the body - mostly around the edges. There is some finish checking in a few places, pick scratches on the pickup covers, some wear through the plating on the saddles where brass is exposed, a small chip in the finish around the 13th fret, and some areas around the neck/body joint and pickup covers where the finish is stressed a bit, but no finish flaking off or totally de-laminating. Overall, this Guild is in outstanding shape for its age and looks totally stunning.

Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has just inspected, setup and restrung this guitar with a new set of 10s. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functioning and the action has been setup low and comfortable. The frets are in great shape with some minor wear from use around the first 3 frets but no major grooves or divots and plenty of life left in them. It plays beautifully up and down the fingerboard with no dead spots or choking out and the vibrato unit is ultra smooth with no tuning problems.
