Summary: This Starfire IV is a great example of the "highly popular semi-hollow Guild classic, with a graceful double-cutaway thinline body and incomparable tone and feel" (GuildGuitars.com). Prized by many guitarists as a solid, well-crafted rocking instrument, this beauty plays and sounds dreamy.
Body: Semi-hollow construction with f-holes. Laminated arched spruce top. Laminated figured maple back and sides. Multi-bound top, back and f-holes. High gloss Antique Burst nitrocellulose finish.
Neck: Three-piece mahogany/maple/mahogany set neck with slim round profile. Fully Bound rosewood fretboard with dot fret markers. 24.75” scale length. 1-5/8” nut width.
Pickups/Hardware: The pickups are the typical 1960's style Guild humbucking pickups, similar to but a bit brighter and crisper than the Gibson equivalent. This guitar has the original open back Grover tuning keys and the original Guild tailpiece. This instrument has the original bridge!
Cosmetics: This guitar is in great shape for its age with normal vintage wear consistent with an instrument from the 1960's. There are a few noticeable dings and scratches on the guitar and there is some natural arm wear on the top side where the finish in no longer shiny. There are a few scuffs on the back and a few noticeable dings but there isn't much buckle rash - the back looks great! The binding is shrinking a little bit, particularly around the upper horns on the top & the back.
Playability: This guitar is very easy to play - the action is low & the frets are in good shape with lots of life left. The first few frets have the most wear and there are a few visible divits in the first fret on the B & G string.
