Description

Summary: The Starfire series has been Guild's most consistently successful electric guitar line since its inception, and was by far the company's most popular electric instrument in the 1960's. This beautiful vintage instrument plays and sounds great.

Body: Semi-hollow, double cutaway, laminated mahogany with a beautiful cherry red finish.

Neck: Three-piece mahogany/maple/mahogany set neck with slim round profile. 24.75” scale length. 1-11/16” nut width. 12” fretboard radius.

Pickups/Hardware: The pickups are the typical 1960's style Guild humbucking pickups, similar to but a bit brighter and crisper than the Gibson equivalent. The trapeze tailpiece has been replaced with a stop tail and there are holes at the bottom of the instrument where the original tail piece was attached.

Cosmetics: This guitar shows normal wear for an instrument consistent with its age - there are nicks and dings on the top and buckle scratches on the back. This guitar has cool checking throughout the instrument, especially on the sides of the guitar. There are a few holes at the bottom where the original trapeze tailpiece used to connect. The back of the neck does have lots of wear up near the first few frets and there are four divits or dings that are .25" long above the 2nd fret. There is also a divit that is .5" long below the low E tuning key (See photos). Although there is wear consistent with its age, this instrument does not have any structural damage or breaks.

Playability: This beauty is easy to play and the frets are in good shape with lots of life left in them. The nut has been changed to a brass nut. The action is low and comfortable and it stays in great tune with the stop tail piece.

Weight: 7 lbs, 14 oz.

Case: Non-original hard shell.
