Summary: The Starfire series has been Guild's most consistently successful electric guitar line since its inception. This beautiful vintage instrument is from 1973 and it plays and sounds great. This instrument has a wonderful flame top that stands out on the wall of guitars in our store.
Body: Semi-hollow, double cutaway, laminated mahogany with a beautiful sunburst finish and a really nice flame on the top.
Neck: Three-piece mahogany/maple/mahogany set neck with slim round profile. 24.75” scale length. 1-9/16” nut width. 12” fretboard radius. This guitar was made in 1973 and this was the first year that Guild included some high end features such as the block pearloid inlays on the fretboard. The frets on this guitar are in good shape & have a lot of life left.
Pickups/Hardware: 2 Original Guild Humbucking pickups, 2 volume knobs and 2 tone knobs and a Master volume. This guitar has a 3 way switch. The instrument has chrome hardware with Grover tuning keys.
Cosmetics: This Guild does show some wear that is consistent with a used but not abused guitar from the early 1970's - there are a few dings and nicks on the instrument but the beauty of the wood overshadows any wear that you may find. There are two marks on the headstock where the guitar was hanging from a wall-hanger and the rubber must have reacted with the finish of the instrument. There is some buckle wear on the back of the guitar. The truss rod cover looks like it has a crack going through it but it is still on and holding there with the two screws that keep it in place. The binding has begun shrinking ever so slightly but is not seperating from the body at any points. There are no structural issues. Overal its a in great shape for a played guitar of this era!
Playability: This guitar is easy to play - the action is low & the guitar plays without any dead spots or buzzing. This instrument has a wonderful tone and the neck feels great.
