~1972 Guild Tornado Natural
Summary: This Ovation Tornado is an incredibly resonant and responsive hollow body guitar. The slim C-shaped neck profile is comfortable and easy to navigate, while the Brazilian rosewood fingerboard is smooth and easy to maneuver. This one is sure to have you playing for hours at a time. Professionally inspected and setup by our in-house luthier. It is in great condition and plays fabulous but does have some binding repairs on the neck.
Body: This hollow body guitar has some character and mojo! It has a double bound spruce top, figured maple back and sides and elegantly bound f-holes.
Neck: This instrument has a slim C profile, bolt-on maple neck with a bound Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, and pearl diamond inlays. Nut width-1 11/16”. Scale length-24 3/4”.
Pickups/Hardware: It has wonderfully clear and articulate sounding humbuckers with a 3-way pickup selector switch and black witch hat knobs, 2 tone knobs & 2 volume knobs. It has nickel hardware, Schaller tuners, a fully adjustable and intonated bridge and saddles and trapeze tailpiece.
Cosmetics: This Ovation has been well played in and shows some typical signs of wear. The back of the neck is super clean and smooth with no notable dings but there are some cracks in the binding as well as some places on the bottom side of the neck where the binding has fallen off and replaced with new binding. The end of the fretboard is missing the binding. All the hardware is really clean and has no alarming signs of corrosion. The frets are in great shape and the neck is straight. There are some cracks in the finish on the body and some very minor dings and scratches.
Playability: This guitar has been fully tested and set-up by our in house luthier and plays fabulously. It has been strung up with a new set of 10’s. This guitar is hard to put down because it plays so easily.
Modifications: This guitar does have some binding on the neck that has been partially replaced but it still feels great & doesn’t affect playability.
