1960 Guild X-50 Granada Blonde
Summary: This Guild archtop has a nice rich tone with a satisfying bark to each note. The original Franz single coil pickup sounds fabulous in the neck position. This vintage Guild is in fine vintage condition with just a bit of honest wear and has the rare blonde finish. It is strung up with D’addario chromes and plays and sounds great.
Body: Archtop guitar with laminated maple top back and sides, cream binding on front and back and blonde finish.
Neck: Mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, 20 frets, pearl dots, bone nut, 24 ¾” scale length and 1 5/8” nut width.
Pickups/Hardware: Original single Franz single coil pickup in the neck position, volume tone, original knobs, tailpiece, rosewood bridge and nickel plated tuners.
Cosmetics: This Guild shows plenty of normal wear and tear from its long life but is overall in great shape for its age. There’s some wear around the headstock edges and face of the headstock, some creases in the finish where it hung on a guitar hanger, yellowing in the finish and finish checking. The finish on the back of the neck is worn, giving it a nice comfortable players feel. There are minor dings around the body and buckle rash on the back. There is a bit of separation between the binding and back behind the heel where the back wood looks like it has shrunk back. There is a bit of tarnish to the nickel plating on the tuners and the D and G string pegs are bent a little but they tune just fine.
Playability: Our in house luthier has just inspected, set up and restrung this guitar with a new set of Chromes flatwounds and it is playing beautifully with comfortable action and a straight neck. The frets have some wear to them but nothing too severe that hinders playability. The bridge is adjusted as low as it will go but it is still very playable with the action where it is.
Modifications: The pickguard is no longer with the guitar and the mounting holes are visible on the side and top.
