1979 Gurian H S3R Excellent, GigBag, $3,495.00

Great examples of Gurian guitars aren’t often seen these days, especially not in the model that’s considered by far the coolest and best and most useful, and certainly not in the rare, fancier version that we have here. The one that everyone is always looking for is the S3R, a 000-size instrument with rosewood back and sides and Sitka spruce top. There were however a very few made called H S3R, with a three-piece back and fine “herringbone” marquetry around both the sides and the back as well as around the top. We have one here, from 1979, made in the original Hinsdale, NH factory. From the four places where Gurians were built over the years, these are considered to be among the very best. With its extremely comfortable mahogany neck (with ebony fingerboard) and genuine gold-plated Schaller tuning machines, it plays and feels just as great as the day it was made and sounds even better. It shows some signs of loving use, a few nicks and scratches here and there and a real nice patina to the genuine lacquer finish. It has been wonderfully taken care of and has stood the test of time, never having needed a single repair of any kind. It still has its original ivory nut and saddle too; Michael Gurian always insisted on the very best. Original label still inside it too”: “ Gurian Workshops.
