Description

Some amazing guitars pass through our shop, so it takes quite a bit to impress us. Offered here is an instrument that certainly generates some excitement; a Bluesmaster P90 by Johan Gustavsson of Sweden.

Most guitarists who have played one of Johan's guitars would not dispute that he is making some of the finest electric guitars currently available. Each of his works is in itself a masterpiece which he has somehow bestowed with a tone, look and feel that is reminiscent of a well preserved 50's vintage classic. Along with a very desirable vintage vibe, however, you also get modern specs, a build quality that is beyond reproach and playability that few real vintage electrics can match.

The Bluesmaster 59 is of course Johan's version of the venerable '59 LP and is among the best interpretations of this iconic electric that you can find anywhere, at any price. The specs of this very special Bluesmaster include: an old growth Mahogany back topped with a solid Eastern Maple top, a gloss black nitrocellulose finish and a total guitar weight of just 8.75 pounds; a 24.75" string scale Mahogany neck with extended tenon, a '59 C shape and depth measurements of .875" at the 1st fret and .960" at the 12th; a gorgeous Brazilian Rosewood fretboard with 12" radius and 1.685" bone nut; a Gustavsson adjustable wraparound bridge piece; and for electronics, Wolfetone P90 pickups with LP style controls and wiring.

The feel of this guitar is decidedly LP-like, but few modern LP's play so easily or sound so good. This guitar is exceptional, even for a Gustavsson, so much so that it has been owned by a couple of the most discriminating guitar player/collectors that I know. One of whom owned it not once, but twice! The tone rivals the best LP's I've ever had the pleasure to play. The P90 pickups allow it's voice to go from sweet to very mean, just add gain. While it certainly doesn't do this guitar's tone justice, please check out the brief sound sample provided.

This amazing instrument was built in 2011 and as mentioned above, it has been owned and played by a number of discriminating guitarists who demand the very best. It is in excellent minus condition with a shallow "amp lean" impression on the back of the neck (which you don't notice while playing) and another in the middle of the back of the guitar (see photos). These minor flaws aside, this guitar is in excellent conditon and the frets little to no wear. It comes in it's original and very clean G&G/JG custom case.

Guitars built by Johan Gustavsson are among the very best that money can buy and this example is among the best of the best. This is an instrument sure to please even the most discriminating player. Make it yours!
