Description

As I have said many times before, Johan Gustavsson makes some of the finest electric guitars available anywhere on planet Earth. He builds each and every instrument as if his legacy is going to be determined by the quality of that particular guitar. Offered here is a Gustavsson Futuremaster which Johan hand-crafted in 2010.

Most of Johan's models are his own interpretations of Gibson classics and the Futuremaster is his take on an Korina-bodied Explorer or Flying V. The specs for this guitar include: a 1.86" deep slab body made of premium grade Korina (White Limba) which is given a high gloss nitro lacquer finish; a 24.75" scale length, long tenon Korina neck with his 'Fat U' carve and depth measurements of .925" at the 1st fret increasing to 1.05" at the 12th fret; a very dark Indian Rosewood fretboard with a 12" radius, 1.685" bone nut, heavy frets and Ebony headstock overlay; a gold-finished Gustavsson intonatable wraparound bridge; gold Kluson Deluxe tuners; and for electronics, two Throbak SLE humbuckers with a three-way toggle, VVT and push/pull coil splitting built into the tone pot. It has a total weight of just over 8 pounds.

Like virtually every Gustavsson guitar I've ever played, this instrument feels both contemporary and vintage at the same time. It has the superb playability and build quality of a modern masterpiece, while simultaneously giving off the feel and vibe of a priceless vintage classic. It has a tone that will be familiar to fans of Korina-bodied Gibson, but with added depth and complexity supplied by Johan and the coil splitting capability further enhances the tonal options available to you. Clean or driven, a Gustavsson electric is hard to beat, particularly when equipped with Throbak pickups, perhaps the best sounding humbuckers available.

As incredible as this guitar plays and sounds, it's cosmetic condition is less than perfect. It sports a few shallow impressions on the face and back, the worst of which are pictured, along with other light scuffs and a bit of pitting on the gold finish of the bridge. Otherwise the guitar is in superb condition and the chunky frets show very little wear. It comes in a very nice black LP-style case along with the original paperwork, the covers for the Throbaks and a spare white pickguard.

Here is an opportunity to get a great Gustavsson electric at a great price. Spoil yourself for most any other electric guitar and buy yourself a Gustavsson!
