Summary: The Hagstrom III (or F-300 in the United States) was a Swedish-built solid body electric guitar available in the mid-late 1960s. It was a three-pickup version of the Hagstrom II (F-200). Clearly the design of this guitar was influenced by the Fender Stratocaster, and Gibson SG, but this is no mere copy. The HIII is well equipped with three single-coil Hagstrom pickups. And with the easy-action Hagstrom neck, and very useable vibrato you get a really nice playing guitar. This particular Hagstrom shows lots of wear but it sounds and plays great.

Body: Solid birch body, double cutaway electric guitar.

Neck: Maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard, 22 frets, dot inlays, original Van Ghent tuning keys. This guitar features Hagstrom's patented H-expander truss rod, that allows a low action, an d prevents neck twists / warpage. The scale length is 24.75” and the nut width is 1 9/16”.

Pickups/Hardware: 3 Hagstrom single coil pickups, chrome hardware, original Van Ghent tuning keys, original tremolo & bridge, non-original whammy bar, dot inlays (missing the 2 dots on the 12th fret and one dot marker on the 5th fret), master volume, 6 switches that give you lots of tonal options, mute switch.

Cosmetics: This vintage Hagstrom does show lots of wear consistent with an instrument that has been played since the 1960’s. There are light scratches on the guitar, some places where the black finish has worn off around the edges of the guitar, lots of scratching on the pickguard. The frets do show some wear – especially the first 3 or 4 frets, but they all still have life left in them. Overall this guitar is in average vintage condition.

Playability: The Hagstrom necks are so comfortable – this neck is thin & the action is super low. We set this guitar up with a fresh set of 10’s and it plays great up & down the fingerboard.

Modifications: There are some fingerboard dots missing on the 5th and the 12th frets. This instrument has a whammy bar but it is not the original bar.

Weight: 6 lbs, 15 oz.

Case: This instrument does come with a vintage teardrop shaped “Vox” guitar case that fits the Hagstrom pretty well.
