Offered for sale;

Used c1974 Hagstrom Swede bass guitar serial number 53933425.

This bass is in very good condition, neck and frets are fine. Cosmetically showing some marks and belt rash.

The pickup mounting rings have been replaced with the slightly smaller Gibson style.

Albin Hagstrom started the company in the 1920s in Alvdalen Sweden primarily producing accordions. The company continued to grow eventually including a chain of music stores. By the late 1950s Hagstrom began building guitars.

Hagstrom was an innovating company with some interesting and progressive designs and concepts. The H-bar truss rod was created as was the first 8-string bass guitar.

The Swede bass was undoubtedly inspired by the Les Paul. It is believed that fewer than 1500 were produced between 1972-1976. Featuring a Mahogany body and neck, 31” scale length with 22 frets.
Hagstrom had a reputation for good sounding pickups. These humbuckers have a full yet balanced tone. The switching controls are interesting. The 3-way switch on the lower bout is a pickup selector, and the switch on the upper bout is a 3-way EQ control with some interesting tonal variations. The center position is flat, and the up position gives an upper midrange cut, the lower position offers a slight midrange boost.

This is a really cool bass that plays quite smoothly, sounds powerful yet articulate. Own and play something unusual!

Original hardcase (beat up bad, no handle) or a recent issue, slightly oversized, Epiphone hardcase. Buyer gets to pick only one case. For the price of shipping ($50) we’ll include both cases.

*Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every
mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.

This is a specific item that is also being offered for sale in our brick & mortar location. It is possible that it has just been sold. Please ask if it is still available before purchasing.

*It is our policy to require a signature on delivery of all musical instruments. Please let us know if you prefer no signature required when ordering or we will automatically require a signature.

If you prefer your item to be sent without a required signature Imperial Guitar and the selected carrier can no longer be responsible for the security of the package once it has been delivered.
