Offered for sale;

Used 1999 Hamer Artist Mahogany serial number 950067.

This guitar is in excellent condition, neck and frets are fine, cosmetically showing a few marks. Overall presents quite well.

Hamer Guitars was founded by Paul Hamer and Joel Dantzig in 1973 after they saw too many iconic and vintage Gibson Les Paul Specials and Juniors being outfitted with humbuckers.

Using the very best woods and materials Paul and Joel (along with Jim Allen) built their “Specials”, calling it the Sunburst. These featured dual DiMarzio humbuckers and a flat flamed maple top. Now we guitar nuts could leave the historic Gibsons intact, while getting the humbucker tones from a Hamer without compromise.

The popularity of Hamer Guitars took off from there as can be attested to by the Artist Mahogany.

From the 2001 Hamer catalog:

“The Artist Mahogany is a sparkling example of what a hand-crafted semi-hollow body guitar should be. The finest Honduras Mahogany is used for its neck and body along with a book-matched, arched top with an f-hole. Mother-of-Pearl Dot inlays dress up an already beautiful Rosewood fingerboard. The final touch? Seymour Duncan P-90 single coils…”

“Hamer bodies are constructed using only the finest ‘Pattern Stock’ Honduras Mahogany. This gives each Hamer greater resonance and tone”

“Hamer necks are joined using an oversized dovetail joint. Because the neck joint is 25% larger than the ‘tenon’ style, the transmission of energy and vibration give every Hamer a naturally larger sustain and sweeter tone.”

A little more regarding the pickups:

"The pickups are Seymour Duncan Hot P-90 2N and 2B.

They have ceramic magnets. Duncan advertises the 2N at 12 K ohms and the 2B at 15K. The pickups in this guitar measure 11.79K for the 2N and the 2B is 14.89K.

That being said, when we compared the bridge pickup with a 1959 Les Paul Junior, 1965 SG Junior and my own personal 1974 Les Paul 55 (Special) I found the volumes to be almost the same. Where the Hamer differed was mainly in slightly more midrange."

This is a beautiful guitar that plays well and sounds great for Blues, Jazz, Rock, and everything in between!

Original hard shell case included.

“We carefully inspect every instrument when we buy it and bring it up to our standards before we offer it for sale. We also do a full set up before we ship. If you decide to purchase this guitar, please let us know what gauge strings you prefer.”

*Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.

This is a specific item that is also being offered for sale in our brick & mortar location. It is possible that it has just been sold. Please ask if it is still available before purchasing.

*It is our policy to require a signature on delivery of all musical instruments. Please let us know if you prefer no signature required when ordering or we will automatically require a signature.

If you prefer your item to be sent without a required signature Imperial Guitar and the selected carrier can no longer be responsible for the security of the package once it has been delivered.
