1965 Harmony Rocket w/ original chipboard case
Summary: This a very charming Harmony rocket that plays wonderfully thanks to an expert refret and set up. This guitar looks awesome and the single gold foil pickup has a lot of that chime, vintage twang and sparkle which really brings out the acoustic quality of its fully hollow construction. It’s in great shape and ships in its original chipboard case.
Body: It has a thin yet fully hollow body with single cutaway, cream binding and nice red burst finish.
Neck: The bolt on maple neck has a great chunky profile, rosewood fretboard with pearloid dots, nice new frets and a steel reinforced rod. Nut width- 1.735” Scale length- 24 ¼”
Pickups/Hardware: Single gold foil pickup, master tone and volume, original cream knobs, floating rosewood bridge, trapeze tailpiece, 3 on a plate tuners with white buttons and original white pickguard.
Cosmetics: This rocket has some battle scars but is in all around great vintage condition. The headstock has some wear all around the edges and some wear to the logo. The neck has finish checking and finish missing in some places from being played throughout the years. There is also one long scratch running from the nut to the 5th fret. The body has finish checking all around, some buckle rash and minor nicks scratches and dings throughout. The pickguard has some minor cracks and some chips in one of the edges. The G string tuning key is bent a bit but works fine. All wear is consistent with a well-played yet cared for instrument from the ‘60s and it is a fully functioning and looks great.
Playability: Since it has had a refret this Harmony plays wonderfully. The action is low and our in house luthier has set up and restrung this guitar with 10 gauge strings. We have had a lot of Harmony Rocket guitars pass through our hands throughout the years and this one really stands out in terms of tone, functionality, playability and feel.
Modifications: New frets and possible aftermarket strap button.
