The Chiquita is an electric guitar designed by Mark Erlewine with input from Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top) in 1979.
The Chiquitas are first made by the Samick brand in Korea and sold by the Hondo brand (IMC). Several colors are available as well as several microphone configurations (Double, single, double AND single ...)
These "Travel Guitars" were sold at a very reasonable price at the time, but the manufacture is not for all that low bill.
Strangely, production of the Chiquita ceased in 1985, the same year that Michael J Fox plays a Yellow Chiquita in the scene at the start of the movie "Back to the future "(the time of a chord which explodes its amp instantly ...) this which allows him to achieve an unexpected notoriety.
The Original chiquitas from the early 80's are very rare, the production of these last ones having been very reduced.
Guitar Collection offers you this 1980's Chiquita in Red finish mounted with a Humbucker.
