From Huss and Dalton:

"Huss and Dalton Guitar Company, Inc. took root in the fertile soil of the Shenandoah Valley, late in the summer of 1995, when Jeff Huss and Mark Dalton’s friendship and mutual interests inspired them to envision eminently playable, resonant, and attractive guitars that were true to their sense of aesthetics and tone. While the luthiers appreciated traditional design, they imagined a guitar that paid homage to tradition and also incorporated improvements to the structure and cosmetics of the distinctly American steel-string guitar. Today, Huss & Dalton builds the world’s finest acoustic, electric guitars and banjos in both traditional and contemporary styles."

The T-0014 Custom is a small bodied, short scale 00-14 fret guitar by Huss and Dalton. It is the perfect size for any musical situation and has less tension than an OM, due to its shorter 24.9" scale length. This makes it the perfect instrument for those who want a looser feel than an OM or Dreadnought. This scale also brings the frets slightly closer together for ease of playability and complex chords, up and down the neck. The T-0014 body size in general projects beautifully with a loud but clear and focused musical voice. The smaller body also makes it the ideal instrument for comfort while playing for long periods of time.

This T-0014 is one of Huss and Daltons beautiful custom creations, merging unrivaled tone woods with masterful build quality. Before even picking this guitar up, you’ll notice all the gorgeous details that Huss and Dalton are known for the world over. The Black Sunburst finished Sitka Spruce top looks brilliant in person and pairs incredibly well with the custom Barnwood Grey finished body and neck. The guitar is fully bound in a beautiful bright Bloodwood, that adds even further depth and character to this unique finish and dark Ebony board. It just makes the whole instrument pop. There is black, white black purfling on the top and black, maple, black purfling on the sides as well as the neck. The craftsmanship is truly astonishing and as flawless as we’ve seen. Mother of Pearl fingerboard and side dots and a firestripe tortoise guard are other custom features which meld perfectly with the rest of the build. When you flip the guitar over, your eyes will immedietly be drawn to the gorgeously figured flame Maple neck and highly figured Myrtle Wood back and sides; in which are both finished in the custom Barnwood Grey. The guitar is stunning.

Tonally this T-0014 sounds just as beautiful as it looks. While most players understand the tonal properties of Rosewood, Mahogany and Maple; Myrtle Wood is just as brilliant, if not more so than a standard Mahogany or Rosewood back and sides. It’s a dream tone-wood, which crosses the line between all three. You can think of Myrtle as if you blended the depth and warmth of Rosewood with the crispness and attack of Maple. However, it is not as bright as Maple. You get a rich, low-end presence, clear focused mid-range and a rich bell-like top-end that is never too bright. It’s all there and in spades. With the more subdued Sitka top and warm Red Spruce braces; the Maple neck helps breath even more life and bell like clarity into this brilliant guitar. You’ll never want to put this instrument down.

This instrument is the perfect choice for the player looking for huge versatility. Finger Pickers will love the clear focused tone and spank when digging in, as well as the 1 ¾” nut width, while flat pickers will immediately notice the large amount of headroom this custom instrument has to offer. This is harmonically rich, masterfully built swiss army knife of a Flat Top; that will continue to surprise and inspire you for a lifetime.
