Offered is this gorgeous and near mint Huss & Dalton 000 custom-ordered in 2016. The original owner was looking for a warm-sounding guitar and ordered this beauty with the top, back and sides all made of highly figured Walnut. Walnut is a dense, naturally beautiful and plentiful tonewood and one whose sonic characteristics fall somewhere between the warm, dark tones of Rosewood and the ringing tones of Maple.
In addition to it's lovely Walnut body, the specs of this beauty include: a 12-fret, short scale (24.9") unstained Mahogany neck with a low profile shape (.85" at the 1st fret); a dark Ebony fretboard with a 1-3/4" bone nut; a herringbone with rings rosette; black/white rope purfling; Indian Rosewood body and neck binding; an Ebony bridge, bone saddle and 2-5/16" string spacing; a figured Walnut overlay on the headstock with MOP Huss & Dalton inlay; and nickel Waverly tuners with ivoroid buttons.
Huss & Dalton guitars are known for a clear and airy tone and this beauty does not disappoint, even with it's Walnut construction. The note separation is exceptional and the overall tone is slightly brighter than an all-Mahogany guitar to my ear, with a nice top end shimmer. Whether you use a flat pick or your fingers, this guitar is quite responsive with lots of sustain. It plays superbly and has been set up with light guage Elixer 80/20's with 12th fret string heights of 6/64" on the low side and 4/64" on the high side.
This one owner instrument is in near mint condition. A light buffing and setup is all it needed and the frets show no observable wear. It comes in it's original H&D tweed-look case, also in mint/near mint condition.
When purchased new in 2016 this guitar cost the original owner over $5K. Get this near mint and lightly played beauty for far less. Just a wonderful, slightly warmer-sounding acoustic for your "guitarsenal" /1 and a lot of custom guitar for your money!
