Offered for sale:

Used 1987 Ibanez JEM777DY serial number 871665.

This guitar is in very good condition, neck and frets are fine. Cosmetically there are a few marks and chips.

There is a 5/8” x 3/8” chip on the back edge of the lower bout. Overall, the finish is in very good shape with the exception of the few marks.

The JEM777 solid body electric guitar was introduced by Ibanez in mid-1987. It was the first model in the JEM series which is a line of six-string guitars which are signature models for American guitarist Steve Vai.

JEM was the name of Joe Despagni's guitar company. A friend of Steve's who did some customization. Ibanez added their ideas to the new RGs that would be produced and the JEM was born. The JEM777 was revealed at the Summer NAMM show in Chicago in June 1987.

The JEM777 was available in three different and, at the time, unique finishes. The Loch Ness Green version was produced only in 1987 and 1988 with only 777 guitars made. All of the LNG JEM777s were hand numbered and signed by Steve Vai. The Shocking Pink (SK) version was available from 1987 until 1989 as was the Desert Sun Yellow (DY).

Some highlights include the unusual pickup wiring configuration, the “Monkey Grip” handle hole in the light weight basswood body, the Lions Claw tremolo cavity that allows tremolo to be pulled upward, and scalloped upper frets.

This is a significant step forward in the genre of the “Super Strat” type of guitars, and this design for one that has stood the test of time.

*Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.

This is a specific item that is also being offered for sale in our brick & mortar location. It is possible that it has just been sold. Please ask if it is still available before purchasing.

*It is our policy to require a signature on delivery of all musical instruments. Please let us know if you prefer no signature required when ordering or we will automatically require a signature.

If you prefer your item to be sent without a required signature Imperial Guitar and the selected carrier can no longer be responsible for the security of the package once it has been delivered.
