General Description: William Hall and Son was a New York City based distributor offering guitars built by other luthiers in the mid to late 1800s. James Ashborn, of Wolcottville, Connecticut, operated one of the largest guitar making factories of the mid-1800s. Models were small parlor sized instruments with ladder bracing and gut strings. Often of more interest as historical artifacts or museum pieces versus guitar collections.
