No SN. Friends, good news, bad news and better news. Good news first. Romero Banjos has resumed building banjos since the 2016 fire in his workshop; albeit with a closed waiting list. The bad news. He has sadly not resumed building his highly sought after resonator guitars. Slightly better news. I’m able to offer one very lightly played Romero Guitar in mint condition…and it’s available now.
Here on consignment is a figured maple example, stained dark, with the trademark brass cover plate, bronze tailpiece, custom brass plate over the fingerboard extension, brass frets on an ebony fingerboard, brass face plate with cut out Romero logo. Quite frankly, this guitar looks as hot and spooky as it sounds. The attention to detail is striking to the two-piece maple neck with ebony trim, the Waverly tuners with ebonized face plates, and serpent-like F-holes.
The internals include a single National cone with a Romero maple biscuit and ebony bridge and a 1-3/4” nut with a great feeling D-shaped neck. It’s set up with lower action for finger style with medium strings. It has great volume, attack, a sophisticated honk and haunting reverb. There are some sound examples on Jason’s web site that are representative of this guitar (although no this exact guitar). It plays and sounds as great as it looks. Comes with the original Cedar Creek case with faux alligator skin exterior that complements the look perfectly.
