RARE circa 1937 Kay K-155 Hollow Body electric guitar - single 'art deco' pickup and wildly FLAMED AND FIGURED SUNBURST MAPLE BACK AND SIDES - in all original and excellent condition - with original red-lined case and original screw-on cable! She has no serial number - she has no markings - her pots indicate 1937 and 1938 - and she is in amazing condition for her age. This is truly THE single most unique vintage Kay we have ever come across. The previous owners informed us that the codes on the two pots indicate 1937 and 1938. The control plate is rather tight-fitting, and we did not want to risk hurting the electronics, so we are taking their word for it. This is an outrageously cool vintage Kay - and exceedingly rare: features FLAMED/FIGURED MAPLE BACK AND SIDES, tortoise shell binding - double bound, bound rosewood fingerboard, tortoise shell pickup! and control plate, large frets, oversized F holes (also tortoise bound), 'hat' position inlays, Kay with Lighting Bolt inlays on headstock (also tortoise bound), 2 knobs and a single toggle, and perhaps the coolest single pickup you will ever see. She sounds smokey and muted - just like she looks. Tuners are changed to the waverly style that you see. Condition-wise, this guitar is superb for its age; finish checking, some but very few light scratches/dings, and there are some areas of the binding that are cracking - see photos. The binding is actually in stellar shape considering her age. This rare Kay is immensely PLAYABLE, unlike some others. The action is very comfortable - NOT crazy high - very easy to play, very full neck carve, too. This is a very rare opportunity to own a high-end vintage Kay - perhaps the coolest one ever built! Tons of photos available; please call 859-261-5500 for an in hand description. Thanks!
