Description

An original, earlier set of gold-plated Kluson Sealfast tuners made for Gibson in the 1950s for Super 400s, L-5s, all their top-line archtops, with original “one-ring” keystone buttons and wonderful coloring. Cast “bullseye” housing, hex fittings on the shafts. Not to be confused with later similar Kluson sets, these have the original "threaded collar” design on the backs of the housings to hold the shafts in. This set came to me thirty or forty years ago, along with quite a number of other items, in the parts collection from the New York shop of John D’Angelico, the most famous and revered archtop guitar maker of all time. Not quite shiny but in decent cosmetic condition; gears and shafts much tighter than I usually see these, work wonderfully. Indispensable for a restoration job. No bushings or screws. $495
