Description

The Larrivee Santa Monica is one fine USA-made 50's Strat-style guitar and I'm quite surprised that we don't see more of these given the great value this guitar represents. Larrivee uses top-quality materials and puts these things together superbly. If you were looking for a Fender Custom Shop Strat with modern fret wire and fretboard radius, this guitar would make a killer alternative and at a great price. This beauty weighs just 7.4 pounds. It has a see-through blonde Mary Kay urethane finish. The neck is a nice medium/chunky C-shape measuring .850" deep at the 1st fret and .950" at the 12th fret and it has a nice dry satin-finish like you find on James Tyler's guitars - no sticky lacquer finish here! The frets look like medium/jumbos, it has a 1-11/16" wide Tusq nut and a 16" fretboard radius. The beveled pickguard and back plate are Bakelite. The pickups are hand-wound and the wiring is top notch. This beauty plays and sounds like a Strat costing far, far more. It is in near mint condition too, with the only evidence of play being on the pickguard which shows a few light scuffs. The frets show no observable wear. It comes to you in it's original form-fitted hardshell case. You get a lot of S-style guitar for your money with this Larrivee Santa Monica!
