Description

If you have been kicking yourself for having missed the 2002 Lentz we had for sale very briefly a few weeks back, then you are in luck as we have another very similar instrument for your consideration. Offered is this spectacular Lentz S built in 2003 before threats of legal action forced Scott to change the shape of the Lentz headstock. Lentz guitars from this era are treasured pieces to many of us who love electric guitars.

This Srat-style instrument has a two piece Alder body with a classic three-tone sunburst nitrocellulose finish. It has Scott's (very) soft V to C-shaped Maple neck with depth measurements of .95" at the 1st fret and 1.00" at the 12th fret. It has a very dark Brazilian Rosewood fretboard with a 9.5" radius, 6105 frets and a 1.625" bone nut. The electronics include Scott's own vintage output single coils (7.16k bridge, 6.03k middle and 5.77k neck). This guitar weighs just 7. pounds!

These "older" Lentz guitars are like finding an affordable and eminantely playable vintage Fender Strat from the late 50's. It just feels and sounds like a Strat should, although Lentz guitars play far better than most any vintage Strat you are likely to come across. The tone of this instrument is true to it's roots too; just listen to the short sound sample provided. Just click the "SoundCloud" box below.

This guitar is in 'excellent minus' condition. It shows some tiny impressions here and there and some minor play wear on the back, but nothing serious. I've included a photo of the worst of the flaws on this marvelous piece. The overall condition is excellent. The neck is straight and true and the frets remain in great condition. It comes in it's original blonde G&G case, also in terriffic condition.

This Lentz remains a fabulous playing and sounding guitar and a superb example of what a high-end Strat should be. This is the kind of Strat that a professional player might choose to take on the road while their $25K vintage Strat remains safely at home.

You don't see many of these "pre-lawsuit era" Lentz guitars on the used market these days, as most are tucked safely away in private hands. Folks just don't want to give them up and with good reason. Get this marvelous example while you can. It is sure to make a Lentz or Strat aficionado extremely happy indeed.
