Little Walter Tube Amps share a common design and construction model:
No Circuit, Tag, or Turret boards – hand built point to point wiring architecture Octal tubes (preamp, power, and rectifier) – Enhanced dynamic responsiveness Shortest signal path to achieve best possible tone – Hear actual voice of your instrument High Quality Signal caps – Full range of tonal color Line Out on all chassis – Direct connection to recording board or PA system
Little Walter amps are carefully hand crafted in West End, North Carolina in the United States by Phil Bradbury.
It is Little Walter Amps intention to recreate the amps of the past using top quality components and point to point construction techniques to give you an amp that has the absolute best tone possible.
While working with Steel Guitar legend Paul Franklin it became obvious that he needed a pair of 50 watt amps due to the fact his Franklin Steel Guitar had double outputs. Paul liked the sound of a pair of the standard 50 watt heads so the design of the Twin 50 began to take shape. A standard 50 watt amp was built on a small chassis and two of these were installed in a 20” wide head cabinet. The chassis are totally independent of one another. The prototype was built and delivered to Paul Franklin for testing so it was dubbed the PF 50/50. A prototype was also built for Vince Gill with the three knob tone stack. These amps tested perfectly and immediately went into service with Vince’s 2011 tour, with both Paul and Vince using them.
Mix and Match!
Brent Mason liked the standard 50s clean tone in the studio but also needed an amp that could breakup when needed so a hybrid twin was created for Brent that had a 50 on one side and a 15 on the other. Randy Kohrs uses a VG-50 / 15 model so that he can use the 50 side for steel and guitar and the 15 side for lap steel. We have also built models with a standard 50 and a VG-50 as well as a Standard 50 and a Model 22.
The Twin 50/22 - "Jimmy & Stevie"
This has become the most popular of the twin models. The guitarist can have the clean tone of the 50watt and the overdriven tone of the 22 in the same head. This is a great studio tool as you can just about cover all genres with this combination. Vince Gill is currently touring with a 50/22 and a 50/50.

This amp was custom made for Austin Guitar House. Built completely by the hands of Phil Bradbury. Phil names all the chassis he makes. This particular 50/22 amp in stock is named after a pair of True Texas guitar slinger brothers, Jimmie and Stevie Vaughan. Phil named the 50 after Jimmie and the 22 after Stevie as he thought the amps caputured their playing styles.
"The Little Walter has the tone I've always heard in my head. It truly inspires me each time I hear it. Whether it's a live or studio gig doesn't matter. The Little Walters deliver tone to the bone." - Paul Franklin
