Lowden O32c Natural with Hiscox Hard Shell Case

Summary: This is a wonderful looking and great sounding Lowden acoustic guitar. This baby is an O32c Series acoustic guitar with a natural finish, built with a Sitka spruce top and East Indian rosewood back and sides. The O (Original Style) was the first shape designed by George Lowden and has remained in their selection of styles since 1976. The ‘O’ has been likened to a ‘Jumbo’ style guitar, though it has a unique design and voice of its own. The sound-box geometry and the voicing of the bracing are both designed to increase treble response, which balances the natural bass-heavy tonal characteristics of such large-bodied guitars. This guitar ships with a heavy duty Hiscox hard-shell case. This guitar was probably made around 2000 but we can’t pinpoint the exact year.

Body: The O-style body is Lowden’s original big body acoustic guitar measuring 16.5” wide at the lower bout, 12” at the upper bout and 4.75” deep. This instrument features a Sitka spruce top and East Indian rosewood on the back & sides. The top & the back are fully bound.

Neck: This instrument has 5-piece mahogany/rosewood neck with a rosewood fingerboard, side dot markers, 20 frets, Gotoh gold tuning keys with fancy tuning buttons, 1.75” nut width, 25.5” scale length.

Pickups/Hardware: Fishman pickup with volume & tone, gold hardware, rosewood bridge, abalone rosette, Gotoh tuning keys.

Cosmetics: This instrument has been well-loved but it does show some normal signs of wear. There are some scratches on the clear pickguard, one ding on the headstock, some small nicks on the top below the bridge,

Playability: This fabulous instrument plays great. We set it up with a new set of 12’s and the action is low & the guitar feels great all the way up & down the fingerboard. The truss rod was tested and it is fully functional. The frets do show a little wear but they have lots of life left in them.

Modifications: This instrument had 2 small cracks on the back when we bought it but we have professionally cleated & stabilized and it is very hard to see where the cracks were – the back was also over-sprayed after the work was done so it looks a little bit shinier than the rest of the guitar.

Case: This instrument comes with a heavy duty “Hiscox LiteFlite” guitar case – the interior door of this case is still there but it has broken off & the red velvet material is gone but the actual case is in great shape with 4 fully working latches.
