~1970 Madeira by Guild A-40

Excellent condition featuring jumbo body, laminated spruce top with decorative soundhole rosette, laminated mahogany back and sides with cherry red stain finish, multi-bound top body edges and single bound back body edges, tortoiseshell grain pickguard, rosewood bridge, mahogany neck with cherry red stain finish, bound rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays starting at the fifth fret, early 1970s Madeira peghead shape with flat top, black peghead face with inlaid Madeira logo, 1 11/16" nut width, two metal strap buttons, and modern black hard shell case.

This 1970s Japanese Madeira A-40 plays and sounds fantastic, delivering what you would expect from a jumbo bodied acoustic. The rich full tone has a pleasing crispness and a fine balance that make this instrument a very well rounded choice for many styles of play. The guitar has been well cared for over the years and shows just some minor play wear (see photos). The tuners are replacement closed gear examples and the headstock retains holes from the original tuners. The rosewood bridge sports a brass saddle at a medium low height and the action is set very comfortably making this a great playing instrument. The rosewood fingerboard is in good condition and the frets show little wear. The pickguard is a replacement and retains the plastic coating which can be removed. This guitar is housed in a modern case that fits it very well.
