Up for sale, a 1976 Marshall JMP 2204 Master Model 50w head in exceptional, near mint condition and in perfect working order. This collector-grade transitional Marshall head still features a small logo and earlier style head cab (gold piping, no corners or top vent), as well as the smaller toggle switches. One of the first Marshalls to feature the pre-phase inverter Master Volume circuit, this design allows the preamp to saturate and deliver searing crunch at club-friendly volumes. Of course the amp really excels when you dial up both the preamp gain and volume for a thick crunch synonymous with early AC/DC records.

The circuit is untouched and stock, with original Drake transformers and mustard capacitors in the preamp. The chart on the chassis has a handwritten March, 1976 test date. The tubes consist of a brand new and freshly biased pair of EL34 power tubes, along with a trio of vintage English preamp tubes including two Telefunkens. The chassis itself is remarkably clean and mint, with a near flawless faceplate and all original knobs intact.

The original tolex and small Marshall logo are virtually flawless, with only a couple light scuffs on the bottom of the head cabinet. All of the original piping is intact, along with the original sprung amp feet and handle. This is a truly remarkable vintage Marshall with the iconic Master Model sound and near perfect transitional cosmetics!
