1942 Martin 0-17 ALL MAHOGANY small bodied acoustic guitar in ABSOLUTE PLAYER CONDITION, with lots and lots of honest, honest play wear and LIFE - serial number 808XX, will ship in non-original hardshell case. Firstly, if you are a collector looking for a pristine-ass vintage Martin guitar, please keep moving - nothing for you to see here. If you are a PLAYER, and LOVE the feel, sound, and look of a guitar that has been 'rode very hard over the years', then this is your axe. This 42 Martin has tons of scars and wear, and some changes, as well: She's been through a refret - nice large frets with lots of wear left. Also, there is evidence of a very ancient overspray, at some point, but any of the finish that's left has that antique look to it. Think: 'old barn.' Tuners are vintage Klusons, and work very well, but are not the 'correct' tuners for the guitar/era. There are repaired cracks to the sides and to the top of the guitar. The pickguard is a rather ancient replacement guard that looks RIGHT for this guitar. The old nut currently on the guitar is probably not the original. Finally, the bridge is NOT the original bridge - but is an excellent and pro-made braz rosewood bridge with a new bone saddle. As far as condition - see the photos: this 017 has a TON of wear, period. But there are those of us that LOVE this kind of guitar because it feels like a comfortable old baseball glove that you do not THINK ABOUT while you are playing. Dig? This 017 plays wonderfully, and the sound is that really warm, dry, snappy mahogany sound. Very intimate, lots of character - yet has no dullness to it at all due to the nice light mahogany. This guy only weighs 2 pounds 9 ounces! This is just a killer killer old guitar - tons of songs in it, you can just tell. Call 859-261-5500 for an in hand description. Thanks.
