Serial # 18346. A particularly wonderful guitar, in exceptional condition. Finding a vintage Martin in such fine shape is generally an exciting event, but it’s made that much more special when it’s a 90 year old-plus 0-18. This one is crack free, and original but for its nut, saddle, and pins. Its finish is just beautiful, frets are very well dressed, the neck has been cleanly reset, bridge and saddle are full height, and its original Waverly tuners are in perfect working order (and just exquisite).

The guitar’s top braces are perfect and without repairs, and the original bridge plate is perfect. A few of the back brace ends have been cleanly reglued. Other very minor flaws include a small mahogany shim under the nut, and a small repaired chip on the treble-side bridge wing.

An exquisite sounding guitar, this 0-18 is very lightly built and offers players all the tonal hallmarks of a great small bodied mahogany Martin. It has a grand-piano clarity and depth, multi-dimensional and expressive mid range, and beautifully full treble response. The bass is very present, articulate and full, and supports melodies played on the higher strings just perfectly. It’s an incredible fingerstyle guitar, and handles a controlled heavy flatpick very well.

Set-up with 11-50 Steel strings, the guitar plays easily and in tune. Set-up by us, the action is presently at 5 to 7 64ths with perfect relief.

Red spruce top, mahogany back and sides, ebony fingerboard and pyramid bridge. 1-7/8” nut width, 24.9” scale, 2-3/8” string spread at the bridge.

With deluxe modern hardshell case.
