1958 Martin 0-18 Natural Repairs but Solid

A couple of major repairs have this, “Old Wood” 0-18 priced a couple thousand $ lower than most other 1950’s 0-18’s. Overall, this guitar plays well, the string height is what you want, it sounds good, and the repairs were preformed professionally. More could be done cosmetically to conceal the repair at the neck if one desires.

Repairs include: neck heel crack, which extends into the bass and treble side bouts. These cracks at the bouts were not repaired on the inside with cleats & appear stable. See the neck block photos for pics of this.

Neck has been reset, with some wood pull out visible at the neck to body junction. This is not the dovetail, & is more cosmetic than functional. Lots of photos attached. Neck does have a ferrous metal truss rod, tested with a magnet.

Fretboard, nut, & bridge replacement, with a support layer added onto on the original bridge plate. See Photos. Fretboard appears to be Indian Rosewood, with new dots. Metal nuts are visible in bracing photo from original bridge.

Original pickguard has fallen off, but is in good shape and should re-attach well. Tuners are replacements. See Photos

Back of neck refinished, except at the headstock. A difference in color is visible at the back of the headstock where the finish changes color between original and redone. Headstock finish and decal look original.

2 small 1” cracks in bass side waist area appear repaired, but are not cleated.

Top refinished in a light satin finish. Some bear-claw grain is visible. Back and sides show complete overspray, then correct sanding and buffing. Old overspray is starting to pull up at the back center-seam joint. Case will be an oversized larger dreadnaught style case, but guitar will be well packed for shipping.
