Description

RARE. End of the summer sale price- 26,500. Only 158 0-45s were made in Martin's history. Only ELEVEN were made in 1919! This instrument is a no excuses Martin pearl top, a true rarity. Pearl tops are among the most sought after, desired, beautiful, and valuable acoustic guitars in the history of the world. This one has zero changed parts.... including the bridge plate. There are two small cracks in the sides near the waist areas. There are no cracks elsewhere that go all the way through the wood. In 1919 Martin guitars still featured French polish finish rather than lacquer. Martin started using nitrocellulose lacquer in 1926. Prior to that, their guitars had a hand-rubbed shellac-based finish (“French polish” is the technique). Sprayed lacquer is much easier to apply and more resistant to scratches, but tends to dry out and crack over a long period of time, whereas French polish finishes look great even when near a century old. Style 45 has always been the very finest degree of ornamentation offered by Martin. Truly, only the best was used on style 45 instruments. The 45 style was a big upgrade over the 42. All hand done inlays— including the beautiful torch head stock. Trifecta of tone- Adirondack top, extremely straight grain quarter sawn Brazilian rosewood back and sides, and scalloped braces. Every single thing about this guitar is jaw dropping. Aesthetics, attention to detail, and craftsmanship are off the charts. Notes leap and bloom out of this guitar and it plays effortlessly. This guitar handles light gauge steel, extra light gauge steel, and silk and steel strings just fine. 26,500 dollars. The 0-45 was discontinued at Martin long long ago. Very few individuals own a pearl top Martin. Add your name to that list.
