Spectacular late 1920 Martin 00-45 guitar serial number 15404 shipped to well-known musical instrument retailer and Martin dealer, Southern California Music Company, May 31st 1923. Only 16 of this particular model were made that year, this one held at Martin until 1923 when finally purchased and shipped. A fine example of an increasingly hard to get, extremely rare and collectable guitar, for your purchasing consideration. Martin’s 45 style instruments were just over the top fancy wise, to hold one and see how much work goes into the abalone perfling alone is mind numbing. Beautiful and largely original condition with refinished back of neck and two poorly repaired & refinished back cracks bottom bass side creating the need for a small piece of replaced abalone perfling same area (pictured). Otherwise, gorgeous Brazilian rosewood back and sides, ebony fingerboard and bridge, abalone inlay everywhere, bound slot head headstock with fancy torch inlay in a beautiful Brazilian rosewood veneer, Adirondack spruce top with a wide 1 7/8” nut width, 24.9 scale length, 2 3/8” string width at bridge. Bar frets, good neck angle, action is factory Martin, sounds incredible, plays fantastic. Remarkable beautiful largely original guitar in great condition with a later but still old, correct sized Martin hard shell case with green interior. From the estate of my deceased friend Glen Quan of Leo Quan, Badass Bridge fame, as with many of his guitars he could have had this super well-preserved collectable Martin for years and this was very likely the case, where he got it is unknown to us now. Early style ebony fingerboard with bar frets, light X bracing made for gut strings. Guitars of this size and string persuasion sound softer hence used in the context of parlor music and becoming known as parlor guitars now attributed to any guitar of small stature.
