Martin 000-18, 1936 Serial # 63XXX. Professionally refinished in the correct mid-30’s Martin style Sunburst as were only a few of the 280 all total 000-18’s produced in 1936. Other work excellently performed at the time: neck set, bridge and saddle replacement with original style rosewood bridge/long bone saddle, small Maple bridgeplate possibly a replacement, new decal, upper side crack glued/ with exquisite miniscule diamond cleats, a couple of back cracks glued back at neckblock, some brace contact points cleanly reglued . Grover gears, original G-98?. Beautiful old bone nut. Very little of the work is visible from the exterior and cleanly done on the interior. The fingerboard shows light wear while the frets show no string digs. The tortoise binding and pickguard are in excellent condition. The playability is excellent with low smooth action all the way up the comfortable V neck. No neck/headstock cracks or anything of the sort. I don’t try to describe Tone however I will state this guitar sounds incredible even with the refin. The issues usually needing to be addressed on a Martin of this era have been professionally performed. This instrument is structurally sound, plays/sounds/ looks exceptional, is ready for another 80 years of service. Newer Hardshell.
