An exceptionally clean and lightly played 14 fret to the body 1943 000-18. Probably the cleanest and least played scalloped braced featherweight 000-18 on the market. Purchased from the original owner and uncirculated. It is getting harder and harder to find examples in this kind of collector’s condition, you just don’t see instruments this clean anymore.
Completely crack free with the exception of the typical light pickguard to bridge stress crack from pickguard shrinkage. The interior bracing is pure white and clean, as is the bridge plate which shows no use or wear. Technically considered a “wartime” model, the top is braced with the highly sought after “pre-war” scalloped bracing.
Virtually no fretwear and no fretboard wear. 3/32nds at the 12th fret on both the high & low E string. Some light capo wear to the treble side finish on the fretboard edge on the 1st through 6th fret. Some light case wear on the lower treble bout, but not pronounced. Neck profile is what I consider a rounded slightly V’s profile with the spine rounded at the V portion. Not perfectly rounded, but also not a V.
As clean as this is, two small rhinestones were removed from headstock corners leaving pinhead sized dropfilled marks, the strap button hole has been enlarged, the nut was replaced but no signs of work being done. Two non original tuners, originals are thin wartime pancake style. I may have two old tuners that would match these, but they are not original to the guitar.
