The stunning sound of this 1966 Martin 000-18 explains precisely why these were labeled “Concert” models! This particular one was designated an “Auditorium” guitar in Martin’s catalog, meaning that its body size and booming sound were fit for large venues! This particular guitar features a beautiful Natural spruce top with fine, tight grain, indicating the incredible wood quality Martin used. This is matched with a beautiful, speckled mahogany back, side, and neck. The rosewood fretboard is clean and met with pearl dots. As final touches to the aesthetics of the design, the body is bound in a tortoiseshell “fiberloid” matching its tortoiseshell pickguard. This guitar is well-maintained, with some aging and playwear to denote its vintage status. There is one touchup on the side of the body, only visible under blacklight. There is also a small crack on the top along the grain. It is only about an inch and a half in size and moves from the very bottom of the pickguard to the bridge. We have inspected it, and it is stable. Due to its location, it is unable to spread. We think this guitar is an incredible player; our tech loves it, too, and he certainly knows his stuff!
Overall Condition: 7, due to playwear, checking, and some minor marks
