Description

If you are reading this despite the price, then you likely know that this is a very special and desirable guitar. Offered is Martin 000-42 Eric Clapton, #104 of the 461 piece limited run produced only during 1995. This is a 14-fret, 000-sized instrument made of Sitka Spruce and East Indian Rosewood. It has a 24.9" scale length, 1.75" bone nut and 2 5/16" string spacing and is adorned with all manner of cosmetic niceties and the label is signed by Eric's own hand. Let me say that if there is a cleaner example of this guitar in existence, it is likely in Eric Clapton's collection or in the Martin Museum. I've had a couple of these over the years and none were so well preserved. This instrument was obviously purchased as an investment. It appears to have been taken out of the case and strummed a bit or for a string change just a few times over the past two decades and otherwise stored. This guitar just drips with Clapton vibe. It plays superbly and the tone immediately reminds you of his 'Unplugged' album, on which a similar model was played extensively. I can't get over the condition of this guitar. Even the headstock overlay and pickguard are relatively free of marks. The top, back, sides and frets are in near mint condition. If the great condition, tone and playability were not enough, included is the original Martin paperwork, along with the original sales slip showing a 1995 purchase price of $7,888 including tax, a sum which equates to nearly $13K in 2015 dollars! The original Martin/Geib style case, also in superb condition, is included as well. Because of it's exemplary condition, this guitar is priced near the top of the (current) Blue Book value scale for this instrument. Truly an exceptional piece and quite likely a fine investment.....
