Description

Offered is this superb one-owner Martin Standard Series 000-42 built in 2004. This beauty has obviously been a "case queen" for most of it's life and has seen extremely little play over the past 14 years!

The 000-42 is an auditorium-sized, short scale, 14-fret instrument with a lower bout that is just 15" wide and 4-1/8" deep. This Martin classic has a Sitka Spruce top matched with Indian Rosewood for the back and sides. It is a highly ornamental guitar, with ivoroid bindings, Abalone rosette and inlays and Abalone/multi-color trim. The neck is Martin's modified V-shape which has a lovely vintage feel without being excessively big. The fretboard and the bridge are made from black ebony. This is a 24.9" scale guitar with a 1.75" wide bone nut and a bone saddle with 2-1/4" string spacing. The original white bridge and end pins have been replaced with matched ebony examples with MOP dots.

The tone and playability of this guitar are flat out fabulous. It plays effortlessly and is setup with Elixer 80/20 lights with 12th fret strings heights of 5/64" on the low E side and 4/64" on the high E side. The tone is rich and nicely balanced as you would expect from a high-end Martin guitar. Please check out the short sound sample provided to hear just how nice this guitar sounds. With more play, it will surely open up and sound even better.

You will have to look very closely to find a mark anywhere on this guitar. It's obvious it hasn't been out of it's case much over the years. The frets are flawless and even the pickguard is relatively free of scuffs. A few light and hard to see marks on the headstock are about all that I can find. This gorgeous acoustic guitar comes in the original Martin Geib-style case which is in very good condition.

A new example of this fine instrument will set you back $5,600 but this near mint 2004 example can be yours for quite substantially less. This is a lovely and particularly well preserved example of a classic Martin instrument. Make it yours today!
