First run, one of only 461 made in 1992. At the Bray Film Studios in England Eric Clapton played a fully-acoustic 17-song set on his 1939 000-42, serial number 73234, that he had gotten from St. Paul vintage guitar dealer Pete Alenov, which became his massively-successful "Unplugged" album, featuring an amazing rendition of his rock anthem "Layla". He subsequently won 6 Grammy awards and sold 26 million copies. It remains his best-selling record, and it made the acoustic guitar popular again. The fine folks in Nazareth then made an exacting recreation of that 000-42 to become his first signature Martin acoustic. They built only 461 guitars, and they sold out in hours. This is one of the first issued, complete with Eric's autograph on the inside label. EX+++ condition, with no cracks or repairs. Indian rosewood with a 1 & 3/4" nut and 24.9" scale, 42-level abalone rosette and trim, gold butterbean tuners, scalloped braces, and lacquer finish with vintage toner, all spec'ed out by Martin's Dick Boak from Eric's treasured pre-war classic. A real future collectible. Consigned.
