Description

Offered is this lovely Martin 000C Steve Miller "Pegasus" Signature Edition which was built in 2005. This is number 197 of the 383 examples of this limited edition guitar that Martin built.

This is short scale (24.9"), 14 fret, 000/OM sized guitar. It has an Engelmann Spruce top with hybrid scalloped bracing. The back and sides are made from lightly figured Quilt Mahogany. It has a straight-grained Mahogany neck with a sleek and fast Low Oval shape with a first fret depth of .825". The fretboard is made of Black African Ebony with no inlays. The bone nut has a width of 1.75". The cosmetics include a beautiful Abalone rosette, herringbone purfling, a Style 45 mosaic back strip, Martin's "Alternate Torch" headstock inlay and grained ivoroid binding on the body, neck and headstock. It has an Ebony belly bridge with a compensatefd Tusq saddle and 2-1/4" string spacing. The tuners are aged nickel Martin-labeled open backs. It comes factory-equipped with a Fishman Elipse Blend pickup system for amplified play.

The sleek neck shape, short string scale and the venetian cutaway make this a guitar that is super easy to play. Players who alternate between electrics and acoustics will love how easy this guitar makes the transition. I've set it up with a new set of Elixir Phosphor Bronze lights with 12th fret string heights of 6/64" on the low E side and 4/64" on the high E side.

Steve Miller is known for being a demanding and detail-oriented musician and he chose the specs for this instrument carefully. He chose the Engelmann Spruce the hybrid bracing for it's clarity and the quilted Mahogany for it's warmth and it gives this guitar a voice that is the best of both. He selected a compensated Tusq saddle out of his demand for precise intonation and note to note clarity. Please check out the included sound sample of this actual guitar and the video of another example from this short run. Played acoustically or amplified, this guitar sounds fabulous.

While built in 2005, this beauty has seen only light play and has spent most of it's life in it's case. The frets show almost no wear and the only cosmetic flaws include some stain on the lower bout body binding from the black case interior (see photo) and some slight pick marks on the pickguard. Otherwise, this guitar is in superb condition. It comes in it's unique black Geib-style TKL case with all the original paperwork.

If I were a gigging musician in need of an acoustic, I can't think of a better guitar to take out with me each night. Make this superb Martin 000C yours today!
