Pre-War Martin Concert Mahogany w/Original Chipboard Case
I believe this uke was built before the WWll because of the tortoise-shell binding and the Champion Sta-Tite tuners. It sounds great, as a vintage Martin should, sweet and loud. There are a few tight 'cracks' that don't move under thumb pressure and I can't see light through them. There are NO repairs. The bridge has never been reset and is in great shape, as you can see in the pictures. The action is just right and the frets show no wear.
It does not intonate perfectly at the 12th fret. The measurement from the nut to the 12th fret is just over 7 7/16ths; the measurement from the 12th fret to the saddle is exactly 7 1/2". The nut is cut999.00 slanted towards the bridge, so it is obvious that a new nut would cure the intonation. I'm not going to do it myself and if this uke doesn't sell for this low (firm) price, I'll have it done and relist it at a higher price.
Truth be told, I doubt that any non-professional would have any problem playing up to the 7th fret.
