Description

Offered is this lovely little all koa 12-fret slothead from the Martin Custom Shop. This guitar was built in 2012 and remains in "as new" condition, ready for you to break in! This is serial number 1579746.

This is a 12-fret, short scale (24.9") instrument with a lower bout width of 14-1/8". This one-owner instrument was commissioned with the following specs: highly figured koa for the top, back and sides; European flame maple body and white Boltaron binding; black and white purfling; a herringbone rosette; a 'Low Profile' neck with a standard taper and an adjustable truss rod; a black ebony fingerboard with sa 16" radius, G300 fret wire, style 28 dot inlays and a 1-3/4" bone nut; an ebony belly bridge with 2-1/4" spacing; and a (round) slotted headstock with koa overlay and nickel Waverly side mount tuners.

As great as this guitar's specs are, it plays and sounds even better! Just check out the brief sound sample included below; this guitar sounds spectacular, with a nice balanced voice and that lovely tone that Martin guitars are known for. It has yet to open up fully, so the tone and output should increase once the guitar has been played a bit. It plays superbly with 12th fret string heights of 6/64" on the low E side and 4/64" on the high E side. Finger or flat picked, this is one sweet piece.

This guitar is seen little if any play and comes to you in virtually mint condition, frets included. I cannot find any flaws of any significance. It comes in it's original Geib style case, also in mint condition.

A new Custom Shop instrument with these specs would have a street price of approximately $8K today. Save yourself thousands with this 'as new' 2012 example. A lovely little koa sweetheart to help keep the music warm this winter. Make it yours!
