Description

Offered for sale is this lovely Martin Custom Shop 000-14 built in early 2015. I am told this guitar is part of a very limited run of just six or seven instruments.

This guitar is constructed completely with hide glue and utilizes Golden Era style scalloped Sitka top bracing and Adirondack Spruce tone bars. The top is straight-grained Adirondack Spruce, the sides are Cocobolo Rosewood and the striking, three-piece back is Cocobolo with a center wedge of highly figured Mahogany. It has a Style 45 Paua Pearl rosette, Style 45 Golden Era purfling, flamed Mahogany bindiing and Style 28 Abalone dot inlays on the fingerboard. The neck is made of flamed Mahogany with a Performing Artist neck profile. The fingerboard is Ebony with a 16" radius, a 25.340" string scale and a 1.75" bone nut. The belly-style bridge is also Ebony with 2-3/16" string spacing. The bridge and end pins are bone with Paua Pearl dots. The tuners are gold Grovers with vintage style buttons.

The guitar is currently setup with a low profile saddle for fingerstyle play with 9th fret strings heights of 4/64" on both sides of the neck. A standard height Martin bone saddle is included if a more conventional setup is desired. The Performing Artist neck shape is fast and comfortable to play, even for those who typically play electric guitars.

As the provided sound sample demonstrates, the tone of this beauty is lush and rich, with lots of headroom and overtones. The combination of tonewoods used gives this guitar a voice that is both warm and clear and notes resonate for days.

This instrument has seen only light fingerstyle play. The frets are spotless. You may find a string change scratch or two on the headstock and some very light shirt button scuffs on the back, but you will have to look for these flaws very closely under intense lighting in order to find them. It comes in it's similarly clean original Geib-style Martin case with all of the original paperwork and the spare saddle.

Originally priced to sell at over $6K, this gorgeous and lightly-played 000 can be yours for over $2K less than new. A marvelous Martin acoustic indeed!
