If Martin released a D-18 Authentic 1949 this would be it. A wonderful custom-shop creation that features hide glue construction, a T-bar neck support, under-the-finish 40’s style pickguard, and a the neck carve of their popular ’41 D-18A, the guitar is done to the nines. Under the hood you’ll find cloth side reinforcements, a small 1-3/8” maple bridge plate, and straight Sitka braces. The headstock is a custom 50’s shape with rounded corners, old-style logo, and Kluson Deluxe nickel-plated tuning machines. The headstock overlay is Madagascar rosewood, bridge and fingerboard are Indian rosewood; Sitka spruce top, mahogany back and sides.

The guitar’s lovely-feeling neck carve with a full and rounded profile is the first thing you’ll notice when you pick up this guitar. It’s a remarkably comfortable neck, and one that’s delightfully easy to play – even if you’re a 1-3/4” stalwart.

With its straight-braced Sitka top, T-bar neck and hide-glue built, the guitar definitely has a sound that’s unique among modern Martins. It’s both powerful and nuanced, with the warmth and relaxed feel that Sitka imparts. The guitar is a strong flatpicker, and also shines under mid-weight strumming. It’s a great singing companion, and do-it-all-well D-18.

In mint condition, and beautifully set up.
