The D-1 was Martin's very first dreadnought. After making this model for the Oliver Ditson Company since 1916, Martin began making it under their own name in 1931. Specs for this model are closely based on those 1931 guitars. Subtle cosmetic features and a light build make for a beautiful guitar with a big sound. Brazilian rosewood is used for fingerboard, bridge, headplate, heelcap and endpiece. - 12-fret D-size body of solid mahogany with Adirondack spruce VTS top and braces (VTS is Martin's torrefaction/ heat aging process.) Hide glue construction, Authentic style bracing, and Vintage Gloss finish. Black body binding, single ring rosette, tortoise pickguard. Slotted peghead, Authentic neck shape, Brazilian rosewood fretboard (25.4''scale, 1-7/8'' nut) with abalone position dots. Non-adjustable neck reinforcing bar. Martin Harptone style hardshell case.
