Description

A well-played featherweight, full, woody and warm sounding scallop-braced “War Time” 1943 Martin D-18, priced right due to some decades old light overspray and a replaced correct style ebony fretboard with a replaced nut. Just the type of big sound you expect from a Wartime or prewar D-18. Priced at half the price of a cosmetically fine war time version, & close to the same price as many mid to late 50's D-18's this one is a good buy . This has been in my collection for years, but it’s time to let it go. Crack free example, which is difficult to find these days…(well, except for one small 3” hairline I put in the treble side myself bumping it into another guitar). Some molting to the pickguard, but guard is stable, and a replaced decal, probably done when the fretboard was replaced. Structurally very solid, but lightweight and elegant like the best of these old Martins, with a recent neck set and a beautiful refret, this is a great sounding and playing instrument. Comes in an Armitage case. Please email and call about this one. I have a detailed write up in the works, with lots of pictures, including shots of the bracing.
