1946 Martin D-28. An incredible, one-owner ’40s herringbone D-28! Features a Sitka Spruce top with Brazilian Rosewood and is all original, completely crack-free and in fantastic condition! This guitar was originally purchased new in 1946 by a young woman named Genevieve Harvey, who was a guitarist and pianist and whose parents were notable musicians in the local vaudeville scene. This amazing instrument was kept in their family all these years until now and remains in a uniquely preserved state. A lovely sounding dreadnaught with a huge sound delivering a boomy low end, woody midrange with plenty of punch and a shimmering top end full of rich harmonics. The guitar plays well with higher action and is due for a neck reset, but because to the guitar’s untampered with nature, we’ve decided to leave that decision up to the next owner. If the buyer wishes to perform the neck reset, we have a world-class luthier and are more than happy to facilitate that. Fewer and fewer of these guitars from this era, in this condition and with provenance are left out there, making this is a rare opportunity to own a wonderful piece of Martin history! Comes complete with original hardshell case.
