Description

Freshly set up in-house by our esteemed Guitar Tech, this vintage Martin D-28 is playing and sounding great. Current Action is 6/64 to 4/64 (Bass to Treble) with plenty of saddle available if a player wants the action lower. If pre-war dreadnaughts are considered the Holy Grail of Martin guitars, early '50s models are Saintly in stature themselves.

This guitar is in Very Good vintage condition with the expected wear and tear of an instrument of this age, including a general patina of nicks, scratches, and finish wear. It's all good honest playwear in total keeping with a true vintage instrument. Check out the photos and we think you'll agree.

The guitar has its original finish and Brazilian Rosewood back & sides. Brazilian Rosewood was not discontinued by Martin until 1969, so in 1951 choice Brazilian Rosewood was still widely available as evidenced by the lovely Rosewood used to build this D-28. The guitar has its original Waffle Back tuners. The bridge and saddle have been replaced but the original bridge is included. The neck was reset at some point which is a plus. The frets are original and in Good condition. A newer small Maple bridgeplate has been added. The Bone nut was replaced some time ago. Comes with a newer hard shell case. Please feel free to call if you have questions. See below for additional details and specifications.

NOTE TO OUR VALUED CUSTOMERS:

We want you to be happy with your purchase and we try to represent the condition of all used and vintage products as accurately as possible in our listings. Every used guitar shows some signs of play wear and vintage models even more so. We call out all areas of damage or unusual wear, and describe the overall condition based upon what is "normal" for the age of the instrument. Expect to see minor dings, finish checking, or other evidence of normal use and aging which may not be captured by photography or explicitly mentioned in the listing.

We recognize that everyone has their own personal standard of what constitutes acceptable wear and tear. If play wear is especially critical for you, please contact us at the Shop for a complete in-hand description and to answer any questions you may have. Your satisfaction is of paramount importance to us.
