This earliest of Indian rosewood Martin D-28s is so beautiful, in every way, about makes me sigh with pleasure. Immaculately kept since new by its original owner, it has got to be one of the very first D-28s ever to leave the Martin factory after the switch-over from Brazilian, and it is just as neat as a pin. The action is easy and perfect thanks to a lovely and nearly undetectable neck reset by parties unknown (wish I knew who, I’d shake his hand), with necessary pickguard replacement obviously by the same party (ditto). Now for the rest of the important stuff: Clear, BIG, loud Martin tone, an unstoppable stream of it, seems to never end. And condition is absolutely tops; never a crack or an issue of any kind anywhere and you’d be hard put to find even a single scratch on it. This is about the loveliest Matin D-28 of the last forty-six years that I’ve seen. Still has its original Martin factory serial-numberers hang tag, and original Martin hard shell case too. $3495 w/ohsc
